Full Job Description

Are you caring, patient and passionate about supporting children's emotional wellbeing? Do you want to be part of a team that places therapeutic care and mental health at the heart of learning? If so, we'd love to hear from you. Our Primary Pupil Referral Unit supports children aged 5-11 who have experienced challenges in mainstream education due to social, emotional or behavioural needs. We believe that every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment where they can heal, grow and learn - and we're looking for someone who shares that belief. As a Grade 2 Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside teachers and therapeutic staff to support pupils in their learning and emotional development. You'll help create a calm, structured environment where children feel safe and supported and where their mental health is prioritised.,

  • Support pupils in managing emotions and building positive relationships
  • Assist with classroom activities and personalised learning plans
  • Help deliver therapeutic approaches to behaviour and wellbeing
  • Encourage engagement, resilience and self-confidence
  • Work closely with staff and families to support each child's journey

    A nurturing and empathetic approach to working with children
  • Willingness to learn and apply trauma-informed practices
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
  • Experience in education or care settings (desirable but not essential)

    This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands, or final warnings, as well as convictions. The County Council has a commitment to safeguarding service users in our care.
