Full Job Description

Teaching Assistants in our schools know that no two days are the same and no two children are the same either. Our pupils need exceptional adults who can support complex learning, emotional and behavioural needs while creating safe, nurturing and engaging learning environments.
You will understand that our children need patience, consistency, flexibility and the right communication at the right time. Successful Teaching Assistants are resilient, persistent and solution-focused, adapting quickly to meet changing needs throughout the school day.
Our Teaching Assistants will:

- Support teaching and learning across the school.
- Work one-to-one with pupils and deliver small-group interventions.
- Manage classroom resources and learning environments.
- Support educational visits and enrichment activities.
- Build positive relationships with children who may struggle socially, including during break and lunchtime periods.
- Demonstrate a good basic understanding of English and Maths.
- Use strong behaviour management and communication skills to keep children safe during periods of heightened emotion or behaviour.
- Create, adapt and lead games that develop social skills, confidence and learning.
- Produce engaging classroom displays that enhance the learning environment.
- Celebrate pupil achievements and progress.
- Participate in therapeutic training and reflective practice sessions.

Teaching Assistants are highly valued members of our team. We want every member of staff to contribute to the decisions that shape our school, improve outcomes and advocate for every child.
We welcome ideas, interests and passions that enrich both the curriculum and wider school experience. Whether through sport, music, art, outdoor learning or other interests, you will have opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to school life.

- Competitive salary.
- Extensive training and professional qualification opportunities.
- Small class sizes with specialist support.
- Opportunity to join a growing national organisation that invests in its people and develops future leaders.

We regularly review applications and reserve the right to close vacancies early if suitable candidates are identified.
Safeguarding
Compass Community Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.
Successful applicants will be required to obtain an Enhanced DBS Check, including Regulated Activity clearance where appropriate, and complete relevant safeguarding and social media screening checks.
All school-based staff are responsible for promoting the welfare and safety of children and must work in line with the school's Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy at all times.
Compass is an equal opportunities employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, cultures, perspectives and experiences as we continue to grow and support children and young people across our schools.
