Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded SEND specialist school in Chester that supports pupils aged 4-19, predominantly with a dual diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and non-verbal communication needs., This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant with a genuine passion for supporting pupils with complex communication and additional needs. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider specialist team to provide consistent, individualised support throughout the school day. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support within a Year 6 SEND classroom.
  • Using Makaton and PECS to support pupils' communication and independence.
  • Implementing traffic light systems and other visual communication strategies.
  • Delivering targeted speech and communication interventions.
  • Working collaboratively with Speech and Language Therapists (SALT) to implement recommended strategies and programmes.
  • Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development.

    The school are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a small Year 6 class of just five pupils, providing personalised support within a highly nurturing and specialist environment.

    Promoting positive behaviour, independence and confidence throughout the school day.
