Do you thrive in a role where every day brings new challenges, new successes and the opportunity to make a genuine difference? At Norton College Tewkesbury, we're looking for caring, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our dedicated team. This is more than a support role-it's an opportunity to help young people with additional needs discover their strengths, develop independence and build confidence for the future. As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and tutors to provide high-quality support that enables students to access learning, develop independence and achieve meaningful outcomes. You'll support pupils both individually and in small groups, adapting your approach to meet their unique needs and helping them build the skills, confidence and resilience they need to thrive in education and beyond. Working alongside education, therapy and care colleagues, you'll contribute to a consistent, nurturing environment where every young person feels safe, supported and empowered to succeed. What You'll Be Doing

  • Support teachers and tutors to deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences.
  • Provide personalised 1:1 and small-group support, enabling students to access the curriculum as independently as possible.
  • Assist with the implementation and review of individual plans, including Behaviour Support Profiles, Risk Assessments, IEPs and Pastoral Support Plans.
  • Promote pupils' educational, social, emotional and moral development through positive relationships and encouragement.
  • Help create stimulating, organised learning environments tailored to the needs of students with SEND.
  • Support students to develop emotional regulation and self-control through consistent and positive behaviour approaches.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure pupils remain safe both on and off-site, following individual risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues, families and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide a joined-up approach to support.
  • Prepare resources and teaching aids that enhance learning and engagement.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety and wellbeing of every student at all times.

We're looking for someone who is:
  • Passionate about helping young people with additional needs achieve their potential.
  • Caring, patient and resilient, with a calm and positive approach.
  • A strong team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Confident supporting students with autism, additional needs and behaviours that challenge.
  • Adaptable and able to tailor support to individual learning needs.
  • Comfortable using basic IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Committed to ongoing professional development and further training.
  • Experienced in an educational setting; a Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification and a full UK driving licence are desirable.
