Full Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our specialist education team supporting children and young people with autism and additional needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic, resilient, and committed to helping students access learning in a meaningful and empowering way. In this role, you will work closely with teachers, tutors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, person-centred support - ensuring every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. What You'll Be Doing

  • Support teachers to deliver engaging, high-quality lessons and provide 1:1 and small-group support
  • Help create stimulating, structured learning environments tailored to students with autism
  • Contribute to planning and reviewing key student documents (e.g. IEPs, behaviour plans, risk assessments)
  • Promote students' academic, social and emotional development, encouraging independence and self-regulation
  • Support morning routines, personal care (where needed) and overall student wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, care staff and families to ensure consistent support
  • Maintain accurate records and follow all safeguarding, behaviour and health & safety procedures
  • Participate in training, meetings and school development activities to support continuous improvement

    Experience working with children or young people with SEND (essential)
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with autism and additional needs
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students and staff
  • Emotional resilience and confidence in managing challenging behaviour
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A team player who is proactive, reliable, and reflective (essential)
