Full Job Description

Due to an increase in student numbers, we're looking to recruit talented, enthusiastic individuals to contribute to our ongoing success.

Situated in 23 acres of leafy grounds, Queen Mary's College is an inclusive, vibrant and high achieving sixth form college with a fantastic reputation both locally and nationally.

We offer AQA A-level Sociology. Sociology is part of the Social Sciences department, which also includes Psychology, Health & Social Care, Early Child Development, Geography, and Economics. The department is one of the largest in the College and has had notable success in attracting and retaining students. Sociology is a popular course and at present there are 235 students studying Sociology. Student success rates in examinations are very good.

The Department has a strong reputation for being supportive and welcoming. New colleagues receive practical assistance with books, teaching resources and any other support they may need. Staff work closely together to plan schemes of work, share resources and exchange good practice. The Department also maintains strong links with local schools and employers. Courses are well resourced and taught in large, dedicated teaching rooms. Innovative approaches to teaching and learning are welcomed and supported.

Our priorities are to maintain and extend our examination success and to maintain high levels of student retention. We seek to ensure that we provide students with an experience of learning that is as attractive, interesting and active as possible and which helps them acquire the skills and knowledge essential for their progression.
