Kew House School is seeking an enthusiastic Psychology Teacher to join our friendly and successful department. We invite applications from those wishing to inspire pupils to achieve their full potential in Psychology, and welcome applications from both ECTs and experienced teachers. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering KS5 Psychology lessons, reporting to the Head of Psychology. Job Description All staff are expected to have a clear understanding of the aims, objectives, and ethos of the school, and an awareness of its role in the community. It is essential that the academic and pastoral frameworks in the school are seen as interrelated. The successful candidate will:
- Hold a good degree in an appropriate subject and a recognised teaching qualification.
- Promote a love of Psychology for every pupil by delivering engaging and stimulating lessons which set appropriate learning expectations and targets for improvement.
- Have the capacity to raise attainment through motivating, challenging, and inspiring our pupils.
- Have an extensive knowledge and understanding of psychological theory relevant to the AQA A Level syllabus and beyond.
- Be able to develop suitable curriculum materials to support students' learning at A Level.
- Have experience and demonstrable understanding of the research methods and statistics associated with Psychology.
- Help foster a culture of high expectations of practical experiments and the delivery of challenging content within the department.
- Have drive, enthusiasm, warmth, and humour.
- Have a willingness to work as a team and to collaborate with colleagues.
- Engage in clubs, societies, and additional revision sessions throughout the year. Our School Kew House School was established in the conviction that there exists an opportunity for a different kind of independent secondary school in London - academically demanding but with a forward-thinking approach to selection criteria, the flexibility of the curriculum, the shape of the school day, and recognition of creativity and talent. A character-selective school, we pride ourselves on the support and care we extend to our 500 pupils whilst striving to add value to their success in all fields of academia, sport, and creativity. Kew House School has successfully grown over ten years since its foundation and was recently awarded the ISI "Excellent" grading. Curriculum The post-16 curriculum provision advises students to take appropriate combinations of A Level subjects, plus an EPQ. Students at Kew House School combine A-Level Psychology with a wide range of subjects, including other sciences. The school's aim is to provide a rich and broad education to all students, whatever their specialism. Whilst we aim to achieve the highest academic results for each student, we do not serve as an examination "factory". How to Apply Kew House School will only accept completed application forms and equal opportunities forms. Please email those to recruitment@kewhouseschool.com. CVs will not be accepted as a substitute, but may be submitted alongside the application forms. Closing date: Thursday 16th April 2026 with interviews week commencing 20th April. Early applications are strongly encouraged. Kew House School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
