Full Job Description
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and creative teacher of PSHE to join our hard-working and successful department. PSHE enjoys a very strong reputation within the school, being taught in Years 7,8 and 9 and also featuring in the tutor work programme in Years 7-13. We have also enhanced our KS3 PSHE curriculum to include the teaching of Digital Skills. A large number of specialist events complement the curriculum and support the personal development of Little Heath students. At Little Heath we are also proud to offer a variety of extra-curricular activities. This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced teacher to join our team. The ability to teach another subject would be desirable but not essential. The person we are seeking will:
- be passionate about PSHE and have the desire to share that passion with students;
- be an innovative and inspiring classroom teacher teachers who have trained as specialists in other curriculum areas, but have a keen interest in PSHE are encouraged to apply;
- have experience of teaching PSHE across all key stages
- be committed to working as part of a team;
- be committed to developing the extra-curricular life of the department;
- be reflective and eager to develop their teaching skills. Little Heath School is a highly successful comprehensive school (1658 on roll, including 366 in the Sixth Form) situated in a pleasant semi-rural setting to the west of Reading, with good access to road and rail links. The school has recently benefited from a significant and transformational building project, opening a new £15 million main block in spring 2021. New staff will also be given their own laptop to work on and their own classroom base when they join. As a school, we pride ourselves on our Continuing Professional Development Programme, which supports teachers to continually improve their practice in innovative ways, collaborating with other members of staff. This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, and therefore the ability to converse at ease with pupils/members of the public and provide advice/instruction in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
