Full Job Description

The Prep at Denstone College is a vital part of our campus, educating 100 pupils within our broader school community^. We also offer flexible boarding options for our Prep pupils from the age of seven^. Reporting directly to the Head of Prep, the Teacher of Prep is essential to our academic success and our commitment to holistic pupil development^.

The core of this role involves planning and preparing engaging courses and lessons tailored to the specific educational needs of the assigned pupils^. You will be responsible for teaching, setting work, and marking, alongside carefully assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, and attainment of the children^.

Beyond the classroom, promoting the general progress and well-being of your pupils is a primary focus^. This includes providing guidance on educational and social matters, making accurate records on personal and social needs, and maintaining clear communication and consultation with parents and external bodies^. You will also have the opportunity to accompany pupils on trips away from the College, further enriching their educational experience^.

Collaboration is central to our ethos; you will advise and co-operate with the Head and fellow teachers on the development of teaching materials, programmes of study, and pastoral arrangements^. You will also participate actively in staff meetings relating to the curriculum, administration, and organisation of the College^.

The College expects flexibility and a strong dedication to further training and professional development, including reviewing teaching methods and adapting to the changing requirements of the College^. Crucially, you must actively promote and safeguard the welfare of the children, maintaining good order, discipline, and safety both on College premises and during authorised activities elsewhere^. Finally, the role includes participating in necessary administrative and organisational tasks, such as attending assemblies, registering attendance, and supervising support staff^.
