Full Job Description

An engaging and enthusiastic Teacher of Politics is required to join the Politics department from the beginning of the Autumn Term 2026 or Spring Term 2027.

The successful applicant will be able to teach A-level politics, and experience teaching History at GCSE and A-level in addition to Politics would be advantageous. Experienced teachers and ECTs are welcome to apply. This is a part-time role; it is anticipated that this role will teach across 3 days per week.

Politics is a popular subject choice for our A Level students. We follow the Edexcel A Level Syllabus Route A (USA), which covers UK politics, government, core ideologies, and US politics.

Every member of staff at KGS is expected to be involved in the co-curricular life of the school, and we particularly welcome applicants who might be able to support any of the following activities: Junior Science Club, Faraday Society, Engineering Club, CCF, Community Service or those who are prepared to assist the coaching of Hockey, Rowing, Cricket or Football.

Staff are remunerated through the Kingston Grammar School salary scale, which is significantly above the national scale for teachers.

For queries regarding this role, please email: hr@kgs.org.uk

Closing date for applications: 9.00 am on Friday, 3rd July 2026.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy and interview at any time; therefore, early applications are welcome.

Applications submitted without the full Kingston Grammar School application form will not be considered. CVs alone will not be considered.

Prior to the interview, an online search will be conducted to identify any past or current incidents or issues that might affect your suitability to work with children and undertake this role. This is in line with guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education. Please note this online search will be carried out only on publicly available information and be limited to issues relating to your suitability to work with children and/or in a school environment. Issues that arise will not automatically be a bar to your employment at this school.

Kingston Grammar School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
