As well as providing a fantastic learning and living environment for young people, Oswestry School offers an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding working environment.
Located in the ancient town of Oswestry in the county of Shropshire, the school was founded in 1407 and, as such, lays claim to being one of the oldest truly independent schools in the country. TEACHER OF PE & SPORTS SCIENCE
Due to the promotion of one of our Teachers of PE to Head of PE, Oswestry School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, driven & passionate educator of physical education, sport, wellbeing & sport science to be part of our forward-thinking and aspirational team. This role would be suitable for an experienced practitioner. The successful applicant will look forward to teaching PE to pupils across all Key Stages, including our Prep School. In addition, they will be required to teach GCSE, A Level and Cambridge Technical Sport Science, a popular subject here at Oswestry School. For the right candidate, there could be potential for opportunities within the department to grow their professional portfolio.
Driven by a strong sense of moral purpose, you will believe passionately in the importance of every individual pupil. Relentless in your approach, you will have boundless energy to strive for only the very best for pupils. Reflective in all aspects of your work, you will be a highly knowledgeable and skilled practitioner whose pedagogy and practice ensure academic excellence. You will be a class teacher who is motivated by the possibilities and opportunities an incredible education can bring about, and value kindness in everything you do. As an on-the-field & classroom teacher in our school, you will provide excellent teaching of both practical & classroom-based physical education and be a role model to our pupils. You will be a qualified teacher and be fully up to date with curriculum developments. You will work closely with the department on a process of continuous improvement of our sporting ethos and vision, ensuring that the school continues to deliver even better outcomes for pupils.
We want someone with a positive, 'can-do' attitude and a real passion for helping young people succeed. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing physical education & sport science lessons that promote fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles among pupils. You will deliver high-quality lessons, promote a love of sport, and support pupils to stay engaged, focused, and make strong progress.
Furthermore, we are looking for someone who can offer extracurricular opportunities across the department and wider school to enhance the pupil experience at Oswestry School. Specific specialisms or interests in Football, Basketball or Volleyball would be desirable yet not essential.
