Full Job Description
Teacher of PE
Ledbury, Herefordshire
M1 - M3
Permanent
John Masefield High School
FULL TIME/PART TIME TEACHER OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Required from September 2026 main scale (M1 - M3)
We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Physical Education to join our enthusiastic, dedicated and supportive department. The current PE department work closely together to drive a culture and ethos within the subject where teachers are committed to instilling a love of sports and physical activity and providing positive experiences for all our students. Our PE curriculum provision allows students the opportunity to participate in a wide range of different sports, as well as provide extra-curricular experiences through various clubs and fixtures. We want the successful candidate to help develop these areas further, therefore expertise in sports such as netball, hockey, football or dance would be advantageous but not essential. The successful candidate must also be able to teach GCSE PE or BTEC sport Level 2, whilst the ability to teach BTEC Sport Level 3/A Level PE and/or a second subject would be useful but also not essential.
We are committed to developing our staff through first class induction and high-quality professional development. As a result, a large proportion of JMHS staff have achieved promotion to middle and senior leadership positions. John Masefield was recognised by OFSTED in November 2022 as a good school, providing a rich and diverse curriculum. The inspection found that staff showed a genuine desire for students to be safe and happy, and that the school provided high-quality pastoral care for students, especially for those who are vulnerable. The report noted that students behave well and relationships are good at John Masefield.
If you would like a tour of the school and/or an opportunity to discuss the position further, please contact Andrew Morgan, Faculty Leader for Physical Education
Application forms should be emailed to vacancies. We do not accept CVs. If you wish to apply for this post, please submit a completed application form including the supporting statement.
JMHS is committed to the protection and safety of its pupils and therefore all appointed candidates will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check at Enhanced Level. All shortlisted candidates will be subject to an on-line Google search. We will shortlist based on the criteria in the person specification. We are committed to equal opportunities and will make reasonable adjustments where required for candidates attending interview, and for appointed candidates
