Teacher of Music required for January 2027 - part-time, fixed term

The Music Department at Sir Thomas Rich's School comprises teachers who are hardworking, passionate about their subject and whose primary aim is to foster pupils' sensitivity to, and their understanding and enjoyment of, music through an active involvement in listening, composing and performing. At present, Music is taught by one full-time and one part-time teacher, supported by a team of eight specialist instrumental teachers. We are a close knit and supportive team who work together to share best practice and develop existing schemes of work and teaching resources to stimulate our pupils' interest and to encourage creative enquiry, including through our recently invested iMac Suite and specialist software. We all contribute to our department's extra-curricular programme and the organisation of events to showcase our young musicians' talent across the key stages.

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, outstanding graduate to teach Music throughout the age range up to GCSE and A Level. This temporary, fixed for two terms, part-time post commencing January 2027 would be equally well suited to an enthusiastic ECT with a thirst for learning and developing their chosen career, or a more experienced teacher looking for a new opportunity. We remain dedicated to mentoring and supporting our staff; our extensive professional development programme will ensure that the successful candidate will get bespoke training and development. The successful candidate should be willing to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the School.

Founded in 1666 as the Blue Coat Hospital, today Sir Thomas Rich's is a progressive grammar school for boys in Years 7 to 11, and young men and women in the Sixth Form.
