Salary: St Chris Qualified Teacher Salary Scale, dependent on skills and experience Apply by: 9am Wednesday 13 May 2026 St Chris is seeking a passionate and experienced Teacher of Music to join our small, dedicated team and play a key role in a department where creativity, collaboration and confidence grow in equal measure. Music is at the heart of life at St Chris. It enriches our community through performance, shared experiences and the joy of discovery. Every student is encouraged to explore their musical identity through singing, instrumental performance, composition or simply listening with curiosity. Our approach is rooted in participation and expression, enabling each young person to develop their skills, find their voice and experience the power of music to connect and inspire. We are looking for a well-qualified teacher with QTS and a relevant degree, who brings substantial demonstrable experience of teaching BTEC Digital Music Production and A Level Music. The successful candidate will be confident delivering across the age range, from Junior School through to Key Stage 5, and will combine strong subject knowledge with the ability to inspire, challenge and nurture students of all abilities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a rich and ambitious curriculum:
- Junior School (Nursery to Year 6): fostering early musical development through singing, movement and instrumental exploration, building confidence and joy in performance.
- Key Stage 3: a practical, inclusive curriculum focused on performing, composing and collaborating, from foundational skills in Year 7 to band work, film music and creative projects in Year 9.
- GCSE Music: a broad and engaging course spanning performance, composition and analysis, including film music, global traditions and popular music.
- Post-16: delivering high-quality teaching in BTEC Digital Music Production and A Level, supporting students to develop as independent, creative musicians. Music at St Chris extends far beyond the classroom. Students regularly perform in concerts, productions and community events, from Junior School showcases to larger-scale performances supported by excellent facilities. The successful candidate will be eager to contribute to this vibrant co-curricular programme and help sustain a culture where music is shared, celebrated and accessible to all.
