We are recruiting for a Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (French/Spanish) to join our successful and thriving MFL Department here at Cleeve School ideally from September 2026. We are flexible regarding the successful candidate's main teaching language, whether this is French or Spanish. The successful candidate will be able to deliver one language to KS5 and offer some teaching of the second language at KS3.

ECTs are very welcome and encouraged to apply and our provision for new members of staff is strong, particularly driven by our emphasis on career development. We often start ECTs on a higher M-scale level, based on either degree strength or any industry experience. We are a teacher training lead hub school, which brings opportunity and mirrors being a centre of excellence for staff training. On appointment, you will be supported by a successful Director of Languages and a broader team of professionals, depending on your stage of career development.

Languages are highly valued at Cleeve and there is a keen interest by the Executive Head and Board of Trustees to continue to increase student uptake and develop international links and events across the curriculum. Outcomes in MFL have significantly improved over the years and the Department is moving from strength to strength. We currently have 10 classes of students studying languages at KS4 and teach both French and Spanish to KS5, with our Sixth Form Centre of Excellence recently being recognised as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.

Furthermore, KS4 and KS5 students are supported by experienced Foreign Language Assistants, enhancing our already ambitious curriculum. We are also part of the national 'Mandarin Excellence Partnership'.

The Department has an extremely well-resourced subject area, with attractive teaching rooms, an excellent range of teaching resources and a great network with local schools, including feeder primary schools with which we run language-specific outreach events.
