Full Job Description
Teacher of Maths - Permanent, Part-time Position
Location: Rodmell, East Sussex - near Brighton and Lewes
Salary: Competitive
Start Date: September 2026
Northease Manor is an independent school for neurodiverse young people who have struggled in mainstream schools. Situated just south of Lewes in East Sussex, the school's main house is a 17th century manor set in 12 acres of grounds, surrounded by additional buildings and the rolling countryside of the South Downs. The coast is just four miles away.
The reputation of the school has soared in recent years and it has become the school of choice for many families seeking an excellent education and pastoral care for their SEND child. Jobs here are highly sought after, but an opportunity has arisen to work as a part-time teacher in this extraordinary independent school. We are therefore currently seeking a part-time, experienced Teacher of Maths for three days per week. Experience in collating data would be beneficial but is not essential. Our students are often successful in GCSE maths and some excel, but some will also take Functional Skills maths classes. As we are a small school, candidates should be able to meet these needs and also have the flexibility to teach other curriculum classes, if required.
Northease Manor is a registered charity and most students are funded by their local education authorities, although a small number of parents pay the fees themselves, usually while awaiting an EHCP. The school has grown in recent years, with many year groups at capacity, but it remains a small independent setting focussed on delivering exceptional educational, therapeutic and pastoral care. Our students are amazing and deserve the best teachers possible.
Northease is a wonderful place to work. Colleagues are inclusive, happy, fun and deeply committed. The team enjoy excellent personal terms which include small class sizes, TPS (for teachers), long holidays, as well as a genuine commitment to staff wellbeing through a comprehensive wellbeing package including an Employee Assist programme, eyecare plan, access to the school's pool and gym, and a free lunch every day.
More details about the school can be found on the school's website, but if you have energy, enthusiasm and a burning passion to make a difference, and if you are inspired by the school's nurturing, holistic, accepting approach, this could be the perfect job for you.
Northease Manor is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff will be expected to obtain an enhanced DBS disclosure.
