Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Law on a part-time (0.8 FTE) permanent basis to commence in August 2026. The role is paid on the Teacher Scale, currently £33,456 - £51,714 per annum. We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspiring teacher to contribute to the following courses:

  • OCR A Level Law - circa. 250 students
  • and / or
  • Level 3 BTEC Applied Law - circa. 150 students
  • The successful candidate will join a team which works together on all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment and is very successful in securing high results for learners and prepares them for future study at university, apprenticeships or employment. The Department is well resourced. The large classrooms are of a high standard and fitted with a variety of interactive audio-visual aids. The Law Department prides itself on the quality and variety of teaching and the support it provides for students. We are constantly seeking ways to improve the high standards set, and, to broaden the students' experience. A variety of external trips are offered to the Law students and the new member of staff would be expected to contribute to this activity and also help in forging links with outside speakers and Institutions. Second year students regularly compete in the National Bar Mock trial competition and members of the Department have been involved in the mentoring of potential Oxbridge candidates when needed. The candidate would assist with the updating of resources and would help expand the Law Teams pages and other electronic resources. We remain committed to getting the very best from ourselves and from our students and there are frequent training opportunities allowing staff to update their skills and knowledge. All of our teachers are involved in planning and evaluating what we do, working with the other members of an enthusiastic team overseen by the Subject Leader. The results for the Department are outstanding.
