Teacher of Humanities

Bishopsgate School is seeking an exceptional and inspiring Teacher of Humanities to join our academic team on a Part Time (0.6 FTE) basis from January 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a flourishing Humanities provision within a school that places intellectual curiosity and academic excellence at the heart of its educational philosophy. An Engaging Academic Environment Humanities at Bishopsgate plays a central role in helping pupils understand themselves and the wider world. Pupils are encouraged to think critically, engage with diverse perspectives and develop a deep appreciation of both human and physical environments. We are looking for a teacher who will embrace the opportunity to inspire thoughtful discussion, and create meaningful learning experiences that resonate far beyond the classroom. Humanities Programme Humanities is a thriving and valued part of the curriculum, providing pupils with opportunities to explore complex questions, develop informed opinions and engage with contemporary global issues. As the school continues to develop its academic provision, there is significant scope to further enrich the Humanities curriculum, broaden enrichment opportunities and strengthen cross-curricular links that deepen pupils' understanding of the world around them. The Role The successful candidate will play an important role in shaping the future direction of Humanities at Bishopsgate, primarily teaching pupils in years 6-8. Working closely with colleagues across the school, they will contribute to a stimulating curriculum that challenges pupils academically while fostering curiosity and independent thought. This role extends beyond classroom teaching. It calls for an educator who can inspire discussion, encourage enquiry and champion the Humanities as an essential foundation for understanding society, culture and global change. • Brings enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity and academic ambition
• Ideally has experience teaching Philosophy & Ethics
• Has experience of teaching Geography, History or related subjects.
• Inspires thoughtful discussion and confident enquiry
• Believes in the transformative power of education to broaden horizons and shape character
• Is committed to nurturing both academic achievement and personal growth in every pupil
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who will ignite imagination, build confidence and help every pupil discover their voice.
