Full Job Description
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspiring and academically ambitious Teacher of History & Politics to join two popular and successful subjects within the Senior School.
The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner who is passionate about their subjects and committed to delivering engaging, challenging and academically rigorous teaching across the Senior School. They will contribute to maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and pupil achievement and will support pupils in developing the knowledge, skills and confidence required to achieve their full academic potential.
History is a well-established and highly regarded subject within the School, with pupils following the Edexcel specification at GCSE and OCR History at A Level. The department aims not only to develop secure historical knowledge, but also to encourage intellectual curiosity, critical thinking and an appreciation of the ways in which the past continues to shape the modern world.
Politics is a popular and growing A Level subject, following the Edexcel specification. The successful candidate will bring strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for UK and US government and politics, political ideas and contemporary political issues. They will inspire pupils to analyse, interpret and evaluate political information, develop well-reasoned arguments and engage confidently with the complex issues that shape society.
The postholder will contribute to curriculum planning, assessment and the continued development of teaching and learning within History & Politics. They will work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to academic enrichment beyond the classroom, including trips, visiting speakers, societies and other subject-related activities.
