What we are looking for
Are you looking to become a valued member in a team of passionate teachers who are committed to delivering a curriculum that emphasises a deep understanding of science and encourages curiosity and success? We are looking for someone to join NSB following our recognition as 'Secondary School of the Year' at the Northamptonshire Education Awards and 'Comprehensive School of the Year' in the East Midlands for 2025 - the third time we have secured this honour in The Times and The Sunday Times 'Best Schools' Guide' based on our outstanding GCSE and A level results. We are also immensely proud of our most recent Ofsted report from March 2025 which celebrated our 'Outstanding' provision in all areas of the inspection framework.
We are looking for a history teacher with experience of delivering high quality teaching and learning and yielding positive outcomes for all students. The successful applicant must be a highly motivated professional with a desire to support students across a range of abilities and produce lessons that are driven by evidence-informed practice. We want someone who is able to build students' confidence and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to not simply 'do history' but to 'think and write like a historian' - someone who is passionate about inspiring students to take the subject further into GCSE, A level and beyond.
As a teacher within the History department, you must have a broad range of historical understanding, recognise the importance of teamwork and be keen to join a highly effective team of subject experts.
How to apply
We welcome all interested applicants to arrange a telephone/video call so that you can learn more about NSB and what we could offer you as a member of staff. Please take a few moments to visit our website to learn more about the school and our reputation for delivering both academic and extracurricular success.
Application forms can be found via the school website on the 'Vacancies' page. Please send your completed application form to hr@nsb.northants.sch.uk. Alternatively, please apply through the TES or TeachNorthants portal. We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.
Closing date: 9am, Monday 4th May 2026
Interview Date: w/c 4th May 2026
