Full Job Description
Teacher of Film and Media, Teacher of English Required September 2026 Due to subject expansion and increased student numbers across key stages, we are excited to invite applications for a range of roles within our expanding department, including Teacher of Film and Media, Teacher of English, and, for the right candidate, a Subject Leader of Film and Media position. As a result of increased demand, we are seeking passionate, committed and creative practitioners who are eager to help shape a newly aligned curriculum and contribute to a dynamic and ambitious team. For classroom teaching roles, the ability or aspiration to teach across both English and Film/Media would also be considered. We are fortunate to offer this flexibility due to the large size of the faculty, with a range of subject specialisms. We are looking for teachers who are excited to help shape the future direction of English, Film and Media within the school. Separately, English, Film and Media enjoy strong reputations and success: results at both key stage four and five are consistently strong. We are proud to offer A-Level English Literature, English Language, Film and Media. Over the last two years, we have expanded our provision by introducing a creative digital pathway at both key stages four and five: in addition to GCSE English Language and Literature, we also teach GCSE Media. If you are an outstanding teacher with the ability to inspire and motivate students across all Key Stages, these positions offer an exciting opportunity to join our newly expanded and forward looking department. You will be part of a dynamic, successful and innovative team shaping an integrated approach across these subjects. The roles are suitable for ECTs, and applications from experienced teachers, particularly those interested in subject leadership, are also warmly welcomed. The person we are seeking will:
- be able to teach English and/or Media and/or Film at all Key Stages
- be passionate about these subjects and have the desire to share that passion with students
- be an innovative and inspiring classroom teacher
- be committed to helping all students make outstanding progress
- be able to work collaboratively in a large and diverse team
- be reflective and eager to develop their teaching skills
- have the ability to lead and motivate a team (for candidates interested in the subject leadership role)
- have the ability to develop and refine curriculum and planning across the department Little Heath School is a highly successful comprehensive school (1658 on roll, including 366 in the Sixth Form) situated in a pleasant semi-rural setting to the west of Reading, with good access to road and rail links. New staff will also be given their own laptop to work on and their own classroom base when they join. As a school, we pride ourselves on our Continuing Professional Development Programme, which supports teachers to continually improve their practice in innovative ways, collaborating with other members of staff. This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, and therefore the ability to converse at ease with pupils/members of the public and provide advice/instruction in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. For an application form and information pack please email recruitment@littleheath.org.uk Please address supporting letter of application to the Headteacher.
