Part Time


To start - September 2026


We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and well qualified teacher of English to join and work within our thriving teaching team at Shebbear College. The role would suit either an early career or more experienced teacher with the ability to teach English to A Level and GCSE.


Shebbear College is a small independent day and boarding school of around 300 pupils, aged from 2 - 18. Set in 85-acres of countryside between Dartmoor and Exmoor, it is an idyllic location in which to work. Class sizes are smaller than average throughout the school and we pride ourselves on knowing every pupil as an individual, recognising their potential and helping them to achieve their best, whatever that may be. This is what makes us special and stands us apart from other schools.


We are looking for an English teacher who is able to enthuse pupils at both GCSE and A Level.


We are looking for a fantastic English teacher who can;



  • Be highly creative and organised, committed and passionate about teaching English

  • Collaborate with other members of staff within the faculty

  • Develop confidence and skills within our pupils in a friendly, approachable and effective manner

  • Have a strong understanding of the GCSE and A level examination criteria

  • Arrange appropriate trips and visits

  • Support pupils with their further and higher education ambitions when linked to English courses or careers

  • Work with the Head of Marketing & Admissions to promote English inside and outside school and to identify potential scholarship candidates

  • Work with the Head of Faculty on projects and events


You will be involved and supported by the Inspired Learning Group of schools and Nurseries.
