About this Role

Monk's Walk is a high-performing, oversubscribed secondary school seeking to appoint a Teacher of Drama to help raise standards even further. This position is for a one-year fixed term contract to provide maternity cover.

You would be joining a forward-looking, ambitious and supportive department. Drama is a popular option at both GCSE and A Level and outcomes in drama are very good. Extra-curricular provision is strong, and we would be looking to our new colleague to contribute to that provision.

The school offers a supportive, wellbeing-focused environment, including flexible working options, a 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme, wellbeing INSET days, a staff wellbeing group, and a free annual flu vaccination.

If you would like an informal conversation about the role or wish to visit the school before applying, please contact Nick Haynes, Deputy Headteacher at [email address]. Nick is the member of SLT with line management responsibility for Drama.

Applications should be submitted via the My New Term website by noon on Friday 2 October 2026.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications. If you are interested, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

We look forward to hearing from you.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will need to obtain references and conduct online searches in advance of interview for any candidate short-listed. All job offers are subject to satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance. Please note it is an offence to apply for a role where the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
