Fidelis Prep, Fidelis College

Fidelis College is seeking an excellent, qualified Teacher of Art & Design to join our growing College from January 2027.

We are looking for a warm, ambitious and highly professional teacher who is passionate about Art & Design and understands how to inspire pupils through creativity, practical exploration and academic rigour. The successful candidate will combine strong subject knowledge with clear teaching, strong routines and high expectations, fostering pupils' confidence, curiosity and independence.

Our approach is ambitious and developmentally appropriate, with a strong emphasis on developing pupils' creativity, critical thinking and practical skills alongside a broad and engaging curriculum. We provide rich opportunities for pupils to explore ideas, experiment with materials and techniques, develop their artistic voice and appreciate the work of artists and designers from a diverse range of backgrounds.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • deliver high quality, engaging and purposeful Art & Design teaching across the relevant age groups
  • demonstrate strong subject knowledge and inspire pupils to develop their creativity, practical skills and artistic confidence
  • plan and deliver a broad, ambitious and well-sequenced Art & Design curriculum that challenges and supports pupils of all abilities
  • create a stimulating and well-organised learning environment that encourages experimentation, creativity and independent thinking
  • use assessment intelligently to identify next steps, provide effective feedback and ensure that every pupil makes strong progress
  • establish high expectations for behaviour, independence, effort and resilience
  • encourage pupils to explore a wide range of artistic disciplines, materials, techniques, artists and designers
  • contribute fully to the wider academic, pastoral and spiritual life of the College.

Fidelis is a Catholic ethos College committed to the formation of the whole person. Our vision is to form young people of academic excellence, character and integrity who shape society through service, joy and responsibility. Our principal virtues are Joyful, Responsible and Courageous, and these shape our curriculum, relationships and daily life.

We are particularly interested in candidates who combine genuine enthusiasm for Art & Design with strong professional judgement, intellectual curiosity and a commitment to excellent teaching. The successful candidate will have secure subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring pupils to explore, experiment and develop their creative and critical thinking. Experience of teaching Art & Design across the relevant age range, together with a commitment to developing pupils' technical skills, artistic confidence and appreciation of art and design, is highly desirable.

Class teachers are appointed to teach across Fidelis College and may, according to the needs of the College, be required to teach pupils outside the age range or phase in which they have the greatest previous experience.

Fidelis College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Appointment will be subject to the College's safer recruitment procedures, including an Enhanced DBS check and all other checks appropriate to the role.
