Newent Community School & Sixth Form Centre is on a determined and ambitious journey of improvement. We are strengthening the quality of teaching and learning across the school, raising expectations and ensuring every student benefits from a rich, challenging and inspiring curriculum.
We are seeking a talented and creative Teacher of Art to join our highly successful and popular Art Department. Art is an incredibly well-loved subject at Newent, engaging large numbers of students across the school, and the department consistently achieves high outcomes both within the school and across the county.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a team of strong, imaginative and passionate practitioners, where creativity is valued, collaboration is central, and colleagues are encouraged and supported to flourish. The depth of experience within the Art team ensures outstanding professional support at every stage of your career.
Our Art provision is a real strength of the school. We offer a wide range of Art subjects at GCSE and A Level, and we are excited to be introducing GCSE Photography for the first time this year, further expanding creative opportunities for students.
The department is committed to delivering an ambitious curriculum that develops technical skill, artistic confidence and creative thinking. Students are enthusiastic, motivated and proud of their work, and the subject plays a vital role in the wider cultural life of the school.
Our staff are committed, caring and united by a belief that every student deserves excellence. They support one another, share best practice and work with openness, accountability and ambition. This strong professional culture underpins our improvement journey and makes Newent a stimulating and rewarding place to work.
We are committed to:
- Delivering consistently high-quality teaching that inspires creativity, individuality and ambition.
- Maintaining exceptional outcomes and high standards across all key stages.
- Continuing to grow and enrich our creative curriculum, including new and emerging subjects.
- Developing a collaborative, reflective and forward-thinking department rooted in teamwork.
We are seeking a colleague who is:
- A skilled and inspiring classroom practitioner with a passion for Art and creative education.
- Committed to maintaining high standards and excellent outcomes for all students.
- Keen to contribute positively to a strong, creative and highly supportive team.
- Reflective, enthusiastic and eager to develop their practice in a school on an upward trajectory.
- Excited by the opportunity to work in a department where creativity, innovation and ambition are genuinely valued.
The ability to teach an Art subject at KS5 would be an advantage (but not essential).
Most importantly, you will champion our HEART values, Honesty, Excellence, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork, and be motivated to play a role in shaping the next chapter of our improvement journey.
If you are passionate about Art, excited by curriculum development, and want to work in a thriving department within a forward-moving school, we would be delighted to hear from you.
This is a truly exciting time to join Newent Community School & Sixth Form Centre.
The closing date for this role is midday Monday 4th May 2026, with interviews expected to take place As soon as possible after. However, please note that where the school receives an exceptional response, shortlisting and interviews may be arranged prior to the closing date by mutual agreement.
