Full Job Description
St Bartholomew's School is a fantastic place to teach and we are truly committed to the professional development of our staff. We are proud of both our academic success (P8 >0.5 over last 5 years) and the inclusive nature of our pastoral support so that the school works for everyone in the school community.
We are looking for a full-time (or part time) Teacher of Alternative Provision to join us from 1 September 2026 on a permanent basis. Please note that you do not need to be a qualified Teacher to apply for this position.
We are looking for a teacher to provide a bespoke curriculum for students who study for some of this curriculum within the dedicated Alternative Provision area. These students are currently unable to access the full mainstream curriculum for a variety of reasons. There is a support from the Alternative Provision Manager and a dedicated Teaching Assistant.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual who wants to make a tangible difference to the lives of some of the most vulnerable students in the lower school, enabling them to make accelerated progress so that they can access the main curriculum.
St Bart's is a leading academy school (1938 on roll with a Sixth Form of 586) in West Berkshire. Road links are good as we are close to the A34 and M4, as well as excellent public transport and within walking distance of Newbury train station.
To find out more about St Bart's please do take a look at the supporting documents and watch our Headteacher's Welcome Video on our website https://www.stbarts.co.uk/. We would love to receive your application. Please click on the Quick Apply button below to apply.
Closing date: Thursday 7 May 2026 - early applications are encouraged, as we reserve the right to interview before the closing date.
If selected for an interview, you will be given a tour of the school by our students so you can see first-hand all that we have to offer. If you have any questions please contact us on or email recruitment@stbarts.co.uk.
All applicants shortlisted will be subject to an online search. Successful candidates will be subject to a DBS enhanced check along with other relevant employment checks.
