Systems Architect - Connected Car

Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Systems Architect - Connected Car to be based at our customer's site in Bicester. Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions., The Connected Car Architect supports the end to end technical strategy, architecture, and platform direction for all connected car systems. This role serves as a decision influencer for cloud and in vehicle connectivity architectures, ensuring alignment with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and long term technology roadmaps. Area of Responsibility 1. Technical Leadership

• Act as the technical design lead for all connected car systems (cloud, telematics, connectivity).
• Support all architectural decisions and changes across cloud and embedded domains.
• Define and maintain the connected car on car architecture roadmap.
• Establish architectural principles, standards, and design patterns.
• Lead technology evaluation, supplier selection, and platform decision-making.
2. Architecture & Systems Design
• Support definition of reference architectures for cloud backends; account management, CRM, CDM and TSP etc
• Integrate emerging technologies (edge compute, AI agents) into future architecture.
• Ensure scalability, security, and performance of data pipelines and communication protocols.
• Lead technical reviews and support architecture gate processes.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and architectural blueprints.
3. Strategic Management
• Assist in developing a 3 to 5year connected car architecture strategy and investment roadmap.
• Monitor competitive landscape and identify opportunities/threats.
• Support building business cases for major platform or architecture initiatives.
• Partner with senior leaders to align technology decisions with commercial priorities.
4. Governance & Compliance
• Participate in architecture boards and technical governance forums.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
• Assist in defining and manage change control processes.
• Drive technical risk management, mitigation, and technical debt reduction programmes.
