About this Role


We are looking to recruit a highly organised and enthusiastic Switchboard Operator/ Receptionist to join our Front of House Team. Within this role, you will welcome and deal with visitors, staff and students and provide a wide of range of administrative duties to support the reception team and the Assistant Principal. The ideal candidate will have a flexible and friendly manner along with exemplary customer service skills to deal with telephone and face-to-face enquiries in a supportive and professional manner, whilst contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the reception area.


As this role is varied and fast-paced, you must be able to multitask, have good organisational and communication skills, whilst being able to work flexibly in a friendly and professional manner to demonstrate exemplary customer service skills. You will also have the confidence and ability to engage with visitors and students.


If successful, you would play a vital role in the College, which is graded as 'outstanding' in all categories by Ofsted. Our College excels in providing a broad, inclusive and high-quality education to all of our learners, which has resulted in some of the highest levels of progression to Higher Education in the sector. In 2023, students at Joseph Chamberlain College achieved outstanding exam results.


Our College is situated within easy reach of Birmingham City Centre, in a state-of-the-art building with superbly equipped classrooms and outstanding facilities.

Part-time, across five days, term time plus 5 additional days. Hours to be agreed.


Salary


Point 5, of the Support Staff for Sixth Form Colleges Salary scales, which is currently £25,159 FTE, and this will be adjusted in line with the term-time contract.

Monday 14th September 2026 (to arrive no later than 12 noon).
