At Haberdashers' Boys' School, we believe sport has the power to shape character, instil lifelong habits, and bring out the very best in young people. With a 100-acre campus and outstanding facilities, including our state-of-the-art Medburn Sports Centre, we are proud to provide one of the finest school-based sporting environments in the country. We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Swimming Coach to join our vibrant and highly experienced Sports Department on a maternity cover basis for the 2025 academic year. Working primarily with our Prep and Pre-Prep pupils, you will play a key role in developing early swimming skills, building confidence in the water, and fostering a love of swimming in our youngest learners. You will be joining a large, collaborative team led by our Director of Sport and Head of Aquatics, alongside a Head of Prep PE, eight full-time PE teachers, athletic development specialists, a sports administrator and wider professional coaching partners from elite clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Saracens, Middlesex CCC, and Watford Water Polo. What You'll Do:

  • Lead engaging and progressive swimming lessons for boys aged 4-11.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate lessons in line with our Prep and Pre-Prep swimming curriculum.
  • Support co-curricular swimming and water polo sessions before school, at lunchtime, and after school.
  • Help organise and deliver internal and external galas and water polo fixtures.
  • Contribute to a positive and safe learning environment, ensuring the wellbeing of every pupil.
  • Track pupil progress and contribute to assessments and reporting.
  • Assist with pool maintenance procedures and basic water testing.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Aquatics and wider team to deliver exceptional aquatics provision.
  • What You'll Bring:
  • A minimum of Swim England (SEQ) Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualification.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and promoting aquatic sport.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to teaching and pastoral care.
  • Knowledge of water polo or a willingness to support its delivery is desirable but not essential.
