Full Job Description
To be a member of a team responsible to the Group Leader for the Paint application for Valhalla & sports cars,
- Consistently achieve productivity, quality, and safety targets in line with manufacturing requirements.
- Inspect vehicle bodies and components to identify defects or imperfections prior to the paint application process.
- Prepare vehicles and components for painting, including cleaning, degreasing, tack-off, masking, and the application of adhesion promoters where required.
- Apply primer, basecoat, and clearcoat using approved spray-painting techniques to Aston Martin quality standards.
- Ensure accurate colour matching, coating thickness, and finish quality throughout the paint process.
- Remove contaminants and rectify minor paint defects between coating stages to achieve a flawless finish.
- Set up, operate, maintain, and clean spray booths, spray guns, air lines, and associated painting equipment.
- Carry out routine equipment checks and ensure all tools and materials are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Work closely with Group Leaders, Lead Technicians, Quality, and support functions to resolve issues impacting safety, quality, delivery, or cost.
- Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures, ensuring safe handling of paints, solvents, and hazardous substances.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance paint quality, efficiency, and process performance.
- Maintain accurate records and follow standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting other production areas, including preparation, polishing, rectification, or other manufacturing operations, as business requirements dictate.
Strong application experience. - Excellent attention to detail.
- Good understanding of different vehicle surfaces, curves, and paint finishes.
- Patience and ability to complete tasks to a high standard under time pressure.
- Knowledge of surface preparation, cleaning, and paint correction techniques.
- Problem-solving skills to deal with complex vehicle shapes and unexpected challenges.
- Basic knowledge of automotive paint types and surface finishes.
- Hand Eye co-ordination to maintain a smooth and even paint film
- Annual HAV monitoring test
- Paint shop preparation and spray booths as well as any repair area required within site
- Experience in a similar role is required Preferred experience Preparation, Paint & Polish experience is essential. Essential education/ qualifications
- BTEC Certificate/Diploma in Vehicle Technology levels 2 and 3
- City & Guilds Entry Level Award in Vehicle Systems and Body and Paint Maintenance
- City & Guilds Certificate/Diploma in Vehicle Body and Paint Operations
- Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) awards in Vehicle Body and Paint Operations (Refinishing) levels 1 to 3 Preferred education/ qualifications
- NVQ in automotive production, repair, paint application and PPF experience would be advantageous., Team oriented
