Full Job Description
Are you passionate about both environmental sustainability and research? Join the Cambridge Research Office as a Sustainable Research Coordinator, where you'll play a pivotal role in embedding sustainability into the University's research practices.
As a signatory to the Concordat for the Environmental Sustainability of Research and Innovation, the University of Cambridge is committed to embedding sustainability principles across all aspects of research. In this role, you will support research community in aligning with specific funder requirements and broader expectations of the Concordat. You will monitor institutional progress and contribute to the development of best practices across the sector. You will develop and implement tools and guidance that support researchers in integrating environmental sustainability into the design and delivery of their research and will play a key role in developing and delivering training for Research Office staff and research grant facilitators in Schools and Departments.
This specialist role at the intersection of research strategy and environmental responsibility is positioned between the Research Funding Team in the Research Office and the Environmental Sustainability Team in the Estates Division. Collaborating with leading academics and sustainability professionals, you will help drive sustainability in research and contribute to impactful change across the University and the wider sector.
A degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline or area of work is essential for this role and a higher degree and/or research experience is desirable. You will have operational or project management experience as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly. Knowledge of the Higher Education sector, and the research environment in particular, is desirable.
This is a unique opportunity to influence how research is conducted at one of the world's leading universities ensuring excellent research incorporates environmental responsibility. For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Andrea Walker on andrea.walker@admin.cam.ac.uk
Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.
We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements.
