We are currently looking for a manager to join our Workplace team at Deloitte. The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for driving Deloitte World Climate objectives to Net Zero for Workplace Services and the role forms part of the Workplace Compliance Department. This role primarily involves the identification, management, design, delivery, and verification of Net Zero related activities, working in conjunction with operations and project teams across the function. Providing overall accountability for the Net Zero Pathway within Workplace Services with single point of contact for all projects, reporting, ensuring consistency and control of projects across UK&I portfolio. Connect to your opportunity The WS Compliance team are a specialist SME team within the WS function ensuring statutory compliance across the UK, firm including ISO accreditation across a number of key disciplines including sustainability. The role acts as a business partner within the WS function and supply chain including collaboration with the wider enabling function and liaison with core functions such as the WorldClimate teams, CoRe and Real Estate. Working with the wider WS Management teams, it's essential the individual is responsible for conveying own insights and experience in support of the evolution of Workplace Services Net Zero Pathway. Some key areas of accountability:

  • Lead Net Zero Governance and Strategy: Drive the governance framework for Net Zero goals, providing expert support to the WS Net Zero board, leading the WS steering committee, and chairing the Net Zero working group. Develop and maintain the WS Sustainability Strategy and Operational Plan, including the annual Net Zero pathway.
  • Programme and Project Management: Oversee and manage Net Zero workstreams (e.g., energy optimisation, circular economy, behaviour change) from identification and design through to delivery, verification, and performance tracking.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Establish, monitor, and report on operational targets against sustainability goals. Leverage data analytics to identify opportunities, optimise infrastructure, and manage all Net Zero-related data streams for internal and external reporting.
  • Stakeholder and Cultural Engagement: Engage with key internal teams, operational stakeholders, and service partners to embed a low-carbon culture and ensure the successful implementation of Net Zero initiatives. Represent Workplace Services as a subject matter expert with NSE & Global affiliates and communicate broader World Climate sustainability workstreams.
  • Supplier Performance and Innovation: Drive supplier engagement by validating operating procedures, assuring ESG performance to reduce Scope 3 emissions, and identifying technical and commercial innovations. Manage relationships with energy brokers and metering providers.
  • Compliance and Accreditations: Ensure compliance with relevant accreditations, including supporting the maintenance of ISO50001 (UK) and ISO14001 (UK & Switzerland), proactively managing ESOS accreditation, and assuring waste and recycling activities across the portfolio.
  • Strategic Foresight: Anticipate future Net Zero requirements regarding budget, workload, and resources to enable effective early planning.
  • Connect to your skills and professional experience The individual will need to be a trusted and natural advisor and SME within the Sustainability community, who acts as a role model to their peers and across the WS function. Your focus upon solutions and support the firm WorldClimate objectives and manifests into the support and ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and colleagues

  • Proven sustainability experience managing Net Zero programs or initiatives
  • Sustainability formal qualifications
  • Experience of successfully working and engaging with stakeholders of various levels within an organisation, to achieve net zero objectives.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Net Zero related technologies and associated data systems
  • Excellent communication skills - highly articulate both orally and in written work
  • Active role as lead assessor or management of ISO14001 / ISO50001 platforms
  • 3rd Party / Supplier Matrix Management experience
  • An appreciation of wider sustainability requirements / impacts such as social value, biodiversity.
