Full Job Description

The post holder will work with a range of disabled people to support them on their journeyto paid employment. The aim will be to achieve paid employment which may include aperiod of pre-employment support (including on Supported Internship programme). Thepost holder will also work with retention clients who may be at risk of losing their jobs.The Supported Internships Employment Officer must be able to work under pressure andmeet targets and deadlines whilst ensuring delivery aligns with the Supported InternshipQuality Assurance Framework and maintains a high standard of customer service.Who will your manager be and what will you be responsiblefor?You will be:

  • reporting to Senior Disabilities Employment Officer who is in turn responsible for
  • your health and safety, training and development.
  • expected to contribute to a range of projects and build relations with both internal
  • and external partners in order achieve specified outcomes but will not have direct authority over those involved.
  • Responsible for completing within expected timescales all mandatory corporate and
  • role specific training. Training requirements will be detailed in your corporate induction and Personal Development Plan (PDP). Courses are accessed via the council Learning Management System via the Intranet.What will you be doing?
  • working with colleagues and to ensure the team functions successfully in support of
  • the Council's corporate and service objectives.
  • integration with social care teams, college staff and external agencies across
  • Herefordshire to enhance the employment pathway for disabled service users.
  • communicate effectively with jobseekers/students on a one-to-one basis, some of
  • whom have significant barriers to employment and education.
  • provide advice and placement support to students and job seekers throughout their
  • journey to employment, to include initial assessment, vocational profiling, job search support, recruitment support, in work support and retention intervention.
  • assessing of individual students and jobseekers' employment situation and their
  • needs to ensure achievement of and sustained employment/placement.
  • ensuring individual targets are met and contribution to team performance targets.
  • be responsible for regularly reviewing clients progress against the Individual
  • Development Plan to ensure targets are met. Where targets are not being met, or progress towards achieving them is slower than anticipated, the reasons for this are identified and addressed.
  • advice on future employment and career options where they are not provided by
  • other agencies.
  • engage with employers to encourage them to offer vacancies and placements,
  • develop inclusive recruitment practices and monitoring placements to ensure compliance with our Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding and Sustainability Procedures.
  • be confident in marketing jobseekers to local employers and preparing them for
  • interview.
  • completion of all relevant Enable/DFN paperwork and electronic reporting
  • systems.
  • undertake a range of tracking initiatives to capture all outcome and contract
  • evidence requirements.
  • complying with Enable's Quality Standards and SIQAF model
  • Provide initial information on welfare benefits in relation to employment and refer
  • to relevant agencies as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and awareness of issues related to equal
  • opportunities and discrimination practice.
  • taking an active part in identified training and development and continuing
  • personal and vocational development activities.
  • contributing to training and publicity as required.
  • safe systems of work in accordance with the Directorate's Health, Safety and
  • Welfare policies and procedures.
  • carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Line Manager.

However, there are offices in Ludlow, Shropshire).

  • The post is flexible up to 37 hours.
  • Normal office hours are 08:45-17:00 Monday - Thursday. 08:45-16:00 - Friday.
  • Occasional evening/weekend work may be required,
  • The post is subject to the Council's annualised hours scheme as implemented within
  • the specific work area., Annual leave entitlement is a pro rata flat rate scheme of 207 hours (28 days) annual leaveplus bank holidays, with five days extra awarded to those staff with five years localgovernment service giving an entitlement of 244 hours (33 days). Two days of anemployee's allowance (pro rota for part time staff) must be taken at Christmas for anypotential Christmas closures. Employees who work in a building/service which is requiredto open over the Christmas period, the two days leave (pro rota) can be carried over intoyour next leave year but must be used by the end of March.The appointment is subject to one months' notice in writing on either side.The appointment is subject to six months' satisfactory probationary service during whichtime the notice period will be one week on either side.Smoking is not allowed in Council buildings, in Council vehicles or in any Council place ofwork.It is a condition of your appointment that you provide a suitable vehicle for the performanceof your duties and that this is readily available for use during normal working hours. Youare entitled to claim for reimbursement of the costs of travel on council business at the rateof 55 pence per mile.What pre-employment checks will we undertake?The appointment is subject to receipt of the following pre-employment checks; 1.
