Full Job Description

This is a newly commissioned women's service and forms part of a wider offer of accommodation in the Gateshead borough. Working with Gateshead Council, we support women who have multiple needs and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We work hard to ensure that everyone has a chance to "get to a better place". As a Support Worker, you'll work closely with residents developing a professional and trusting relationship, ensuring each resident gets the help they need to get on with their lives, gain confidence and independent living skills, connect and engage with local services, sustain accommodation, and move on to something more permanent. You will work closely with the residents to help them develop the skills they need to live more independently, from basic budgeting, shopping, and cooking, to helping them navigate the benefits system and prepare to sustain a tenancy of their own. Some experience of working with vulnerable people may be useful but what's really important is having empathy, communicating well, and listening. It's a challenging job but an incredibly rewarding one.

  • 130 hours holiday rising to 150 hours after 5 years of service.
  • Your birthday off
  • A generous pension scheme
  • Travel Pass loan scheme
  • Wagestream
  • Death in service benefits
  • Personal training and development planning
  • Full service employee assistance programme
