Full Job Description

Support Worker / Personal Assistant (PA)- Significant experience supporting people with advanced dementia (essential), They both live with advanced dementia, and their needs can vary from day to day.

  • N is gentle and easy-going but may become tired and needs regular reassurance, particularly with personal care.
  • S is more chatty and sociable but can become confused, anxious, or disorientated.
  • For this reason, we are looking for someone with extensive, hands-on experience of supporting people with dementia, who is patient, calm, and able to respond sensitively to changing situations using reassurance, redirection, and thoughtful support. Hours and rate of pay Rate of pay: From £14 per hour (depending on experience) Hours: Approx. 2 days per week (around 5 hours per day - flexible) Ability to work alternative weekends Willingness to provide holiday cover where needed Flexibility required Location Kirk Sandall, Doncaster (DN3) DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check Right to Work and references will be needed.   • Providing companionship, reassurance, and emotional support
  • Supporting both individuals with advanced dementia needs, including managing confusion and distress
  • Administering medication - checking and giving medication from a secure coded pill box
  • Assisting N with personal care, including washing, dressing, and continence care
  • Supporting with morning and bedtime routines
  • Supporting S with dressing when required
  • Preparing meals, drinks, and snacks
  • Completing light household tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and tidying
  • Supporting with occasional appointments or short outings
  • Completing daily logs, recording tasks completed and flagging any concerns for other carers
  • Working independently most of the time, with occasional joint working alongside other carers

  • Able to think quickly and respond calmly in changing or challenging situations
  • Skilled in reassurance, redirection, and distraction techniques
  • Kind, patient, and understanding
  • Calm, confident, and adaptable
  • Friendly, with good communication skills and able to build trust
  • Respectful and sensitive, particularly when supporting with personal care
  • Flexible and reliable, including weekend and holiday cover
