Full Job Description
Support workers will work closely with our qualified staff to deliver specific whole school intervention to schools. A significant amount of group work practice is envisaged and full support and training will be given to enable workers to deliver a selected range of psychoeducational or supportive interventions. Initially this work will be jointly delivered but over time the support worker will feel equipped to deliver these interventions independently.
We are especially keen to hear from applicants with experience of working with children and young people in schools, youth work, family support, SEND or other child-focused settings. NHS experience is not required. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals with experience of working with children, young people, families or schools to join Cornwall's Mental Health Support Team (MHST). This is an exciting opportunity to support primary schools to develop positive mental health and wellbeing through group work, classroom-based activities and whole-school approaches. Whether your background is in education, youth work, family support, children's services, coaching or community work, we would love to hear from you.
We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability. We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK. Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff. We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner. Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increase the numbers of people who use out services.
You will:
- Work directly with children and young people in primary schools.
- Help deliver mental health and wellbeing groups.
- Support schools to develop positive emotional wellbeing environments.
- Build relationships with school staff, children and families.
- Deliver workshops and psychoeducational activities.
- Help children develop confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
