Full Job Description
Alder Close Respite is based in the town of March and supports adults with a learning disability and/or autism. The role of Support Worker is to enable adults with a disability to live as independently as possible and to enjoy lifestyles they choose to. We support and empower individuals to enhance the quality of their life, maximise potential and to continue to promote and develop independence skills whilst staying at Respite., You will report to the Lead Support worker and work in a small team to provide practical support, you will build on service users` existing skills and abilities whilst respecting their individual needs and choices. This includes supporting with personal care where needed, cleaning, shopping, and accessing community activities and opportunities. The role will also involve administration of medication. You will be using IT to update documents such as support plans and risk assessments., Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, along with our employee network 'IDEAL' and self-organised peer support groups help us to foster an inclusive, supportive and safe working environment where people feel valued, respected, and empowered. We collect relevant diversity data for monitoring as part of the recruitment process to understand the diversity of our applicants and monitor any trends throughout the recruitment processes so that we can take meaningful action.
As well as a Care related certificate at Level 2 or above (or equivalent) you will also have a proficient level of written and spoken English for the purposes of case recording and communication with service users, families and other partners. You will have the ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and assessments of capacity as well as the need for safety and confidentiality in the role.

The shifts are on a 4-week rota which could be subject to change to meet service need. These will be during the week, at weekends or Bank Holidays (between 7am- 10pm). Additional enhancements are paid for weekends and Bank Holidays. You will be required to work two weekend shifts, twice a month and complete sleep ins. The starting pay for the posts is £13.45 per hour (approx. £20.17 Saturday hours - £23.94 Sunday hours).
