Support Worker

I am a chatty, bubbly and laid-back gentleman in my 60s looking for a kind, reliable Personal Assistant to support me in maintaining my independence at home. I live with my wife and our German Shepherd dog, who is an important member of our family. As she can be protective of the home and unfamiliar people, I am looking for someone who is confident and comfortable around large dogs and is willing to be patient and give her time to get to know them. I have some health conditions, including breathlessness, oedema in my legs and hearing loss, for which I wear hearing aids. Due to these conditions, I require support with some daily living tasks to help me remain safe and independent. The support I require includes assistance with personal care. I am able to wash myself independently but need someone nearby while I shower to ensure my safety and reduce the risk of falls. Following this, I would appreciate support with drying myself and getting dressed. There will also be occasions when my wife is away visiting relatives, during which I may require additional support with preparing meals, light household tasks and general supervision to ensure I remain safe and comfortable at home. I would like to employ someone who is friendly, patient, reliable and enjoys a good chat. A caring nature, a good sense of humour and a willingness to support me in a respectful and dignified manner are important qualities for this role. Employer Disability and Health Conditions

About the Role Duties and Responsibilities
• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Support the individual to look after/care for pets.
• Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
• Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
