Support Worker Job description

Hours of work: 10 - 30 hours per week plus 10 nights per year respite

Days/Times: TBC

Rate of Pay: £13.50 per hour employed workers / £19.00 per hour self employed workers.

PA required to work with 23-year-old lady based in Bridlington.

Time and days are to be agreed 10 hours minimum - up to 30 hours per week.

The post will entail accompanying a 23-year-old with autism and severe visual impairment on days out, with the aim of promoting and encouraging her independence, confidence, providing routine, and stimulation.

Support would include things such as:

  • Going for walks, shopping, going for lunch and to coffee shops.
  • Planning routes and support with journeys.
  • Day trips and visiting places of interest. This could be going to theme parks, bowling, cinema, library as a few to mention. Lady would like to do a YouTube channel, therefore someone with skills in this area would be beneficial.

Some days may be just having a drink and a chat, watching a movie, playing games, cooking and baking within the home.

Encouraging energetic activities.

The lady has a wide variety of interests, particularly Pokémon, gaming, and Disney.

Car driver with own vehicle is essential.

Successful applicant should be of a kind and caring nature, patient, and preferably have experience of autism.

The candidate should be engaging, resourceful, and proactive. Effective communication is essential therefore the candidate must be thoughtful and considerate in their communication and actions. Candidates should be sensitive to and able to positively manage and respond to the needs of young lady.

It is essential that candidates are patient, calm, collected, and caring individuals who can motivate, encourage, and be influential if needed. It is crucial that the candidate can encourage and enable full participation in positive and meaningful activities that young lady enjoys in the home and in the community.
