Support Worker

Support Worker in Silverton, EX5. A fantastic part-time role supporting a bright and engaging 22-year-old with cerebral palsy. Training will initially take place in Exeter, EX2. Up to £20.00 gross per hour.

Driving Requirements: Yes - driving Oscar's adapted vehicle out in the community (manual)
Essential: Some exposure or experience working with young adults with a physical disability. Able to work at least two Saturdays or Sundays a month
Desirable: PEG feeding experience, but full training is provided, About the Client/Child: Oscar, aged 22, is a bright, engaging and determined young man with a wide range of interests. Prior to recent changes in his health, he enjoyed cycling, languages (with a particular passion for French), playing the piano, reading, and socialising with friends. Oscar has cerebral palsy and relies on full support for his daily needs. He is a wheelchair user and non-verbal. Following recent spinal surgery at C3 level, Oscar currently has very limited movement from the neck down. As a result, his care needs have increased significantly, and his communication is transitioning to the use of head switches.

Days & Hours: Three weekday shifts available per week (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday), 4:00pm-10:00pm, plus alternate weekends (Saturday or Sunday) with shifts of either 8:00am-6:00pm or 11:00am-10:00pm. There is flexibility with this position, and we would also be pleased to hear from candidates who are available to work weekends only.
