Support Worker

The Children's Disability Short Break Review Team was launched following an 18-month pilot. Our team supports Children and young people who are defined as Children in need due to their disability needs only. We have 4 Children's Disability teams across the county, and they provide specialist services for children and young people with complex disabilities. You'll be expected to facilitate in creating alternative ways of working with Children with disabilities across the county. You will review short break packages where they are already in place to ensure children with disabilities in Staffordshire get the right support at the right time. This is a fixed term 12 month position based in the West covering Stafford, South Staffs, Newcastle and Moorlands. The hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30-5.00 and Friday 8.30-4.30.Main Responsibility You will:

• hold a significant caseload of Child in need, young people where short breaks are being provided, with the support and oversight of a qualified social worker.
• conduct Child in need visits and chair reviews
• complete direct work, with Children with disabilities and families
• link families with community-based activities and short break at the most appropriate level.
• take part in reflective group supervision sessions in the district teams to help share knowledge and keep up to date with district operational proactive and challenges

• be confident in decision making and have experience and knowledge in working with children with disabilities and their families.
• have sound organisational skills, able to manage and prioritise competing demands
• have the ability to engage and communicate with Children with disabilities
• be committed to ensuring the children on their case load receive the best quality service.
