Summary
SUPPORT WORKER - Frome, Somerset (Bank Hours)
The client is a 77-year-old man who was involved in a road traffic accident in July 2013 in which he sustained severe injuries which included a head injury and fractures to the right side of his body. He is fully mobile and does not depend on any walking aids.
He was also diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia in January 2025
The client struggles with poor memory (short and long term), poor ability to plan or organise, slowness of thinking, headaches, fatigue, mobility issues, speech and language issues. He requires support to establish and maintain routines and requires regular prompts.
He occasionally requires support to manage his emotions and manage his behaviour.
The client has the benefit of regular input from support workers who help him follow a structured weekly routine.
Physiotherapy and speech and language therapy reviews are also arranged when required.
The client is supported to enjoy regular holiday breaks with his wife.
Hours BANK
(Day and sleep shifts available)
A typical shift will be Day 10am 5pm and Evening/sleep 7pm 10am the following morning.
Salary
- £15.75 per hours weekdays
- £17.85 per hour weekends
- £12.71 per hour sleep shifts weekdays
- £13.71 per hour sleep shifts weekends
At the minimum, applicants will be expected to have some experience of caring for people with physical or learning disabilities.
Applicants with an NVQ (or equivalent) in care are preferred.
Other requirements (essential)
- Applicants must have a full driving licence and will be required to drive the client's vehicle
- This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS, which the employer will obtain and fund on your behalf. You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.
