Support Scientist in Scanning Electron Microscopy

The Department of Materials is seeking to recruit a Support Scientist in Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
The post holder will work within the David Cockayne Centre for Electron Microscopy (DCCEM), and take responsibility for access to the Department's scanning electron microscope instrumentation, in consultation with the Senior EM Facility Manager and Director of the EM Laboratory.
The post holder will plan and manage the delivery of user training across the Department's scanning electron microscopes and related instruments, including EDX and EBSD techniques.
The post holder will take up an important role within the team and become the champion for SEM scientific and technical support, interacting with a wide range of researchers and academics within the Department of Materials, the wider University of Oxford and beyond.

You will hold a degree in Physics, Materials, Engineering or a related field and either a PhD or have extensive experience in the operation of scanning electron microscopes.
You will have experience in the practical training of users of electron microscopes and ancillary instruments, and have excellent communication skills.
A deep understanding of SEM and related techniques is required.
