Full Job Description

Participation People (PP) are working in partnership with the Department for Culture, Media & Sport
(DCMS) to deliver a series of youth pop-up consultation events across England during July 2026.
We are looking to engage young people aged 10-14 through a series of fun, engaging and youthfriendly
consultation activities designed to ensure young people's voices directly inform future
government thinking and policy relating to local youth programmes and opportunities.
Rather than expecting young people and families to travel to one large central venue, we want to work
collaboratively with local organisations and trusted community groups to host sessions in spaces young
people already know and feel comfortable in.
We will be hosting these pop-up events throughout July. However, we are also flexible - to a certain
extent - around dates and formats, especially if there are existing activities, events or programmes we
could potentially "piggy back" onto within your community., Bring all session materials and
activities
Arrange consent processes
beforehand with parents/carers
Facilitate the engagement session
Provide incentives/goody bags where
possible
Work around your setting and young
people
Support safeguarding and delivery
planning collaboratively

Sessions can often be delivered within
your venue or existing
programme/activity.

Young people's feedback will help shape wider policy
thinking on local youth infrastructure, particularly
around improving outcomes relating to:

Increasing opportunities
Including access to activities, careers support, training
and future opportunities.

Improving mental health & wellbeing
Understanding what support, spaces and activities help
young people feel safe, connected and supported.

Reducing the risk of being drawn into crime
Exploring how local youth provision, trusted
relationships and opportunities can positively support
young people.

Group size & participation

We are aiming for pop-up consultation groups of
approximately 10-30 young people, depending on the
setting, format and existing provision.
Across all five regional consultation events, we are
looking to engage a minimum of 150 young people aged
10-14.
We are happy to work flexibly with organisations around
group sizes, timings and formats - particularly where
there are existing activities, programmes or events we
may be able to align with.

Why get involved?

This is an opportunity for young people to:
Have their voices heard
Influence future thinking around youth provision
Shape conversations affecting young people
nationally
Take part in engaging and meaningful activities

Importantly, we are committed to closing the feedback
loop.
We will:

Share outcomes and insights with DCMS
Acknowledge partner organisations within reporting
Return to participating groups with updates,
outcomes & decisions
Ensure young people understand how their voices
and ideas have contributed to wider policy
conversations

We are particularly interested in
ensuring a broad geographical spread
and hearing from young people across:

Urban communities
Rural communities
Coastal communities
Underrepresented regions

Current focus areas include:
London
North East
East Anglia
North West
South West /
Hampshire, Isle of Wight & Dorset
