Join us in delivering exceptional support to residents in a rewarding and varied role., We are looking for a caring and reliable Support Assistant to join our sheltered housing team at St Johns Court, one of Portsmouth City Council's Category 2.5 Sheltered Housing Schemes. Working alongside the Scheme Manager, you will provide day-to-day support to residents, helping them maintain their independence and wellbeing. Duties include responding to residents' needs, liaising with care professionals and family members, maintaining support records, assisting with meal services, promoting social activities, and helping to ensure the safety and security of the scheme. This is a varied role that requires compassion, resilience and the ability to work independently when required.
The position is for 22.5 hours per week on a rota basis, Monday to Sunday, including Bank Holidays, with shifts between 7.00am and 10.00pm. Flexibility is essential, as you may occasionally be required to work at other sheltered housing schemes and cover staff absence to ensure continuity of service., Please ensure that you read the job profile for full details on the post. This role is based at St Johns Court, please ensure you can fulfil this prior to submitting your application. This role works on a 2 week rota Monday to Sunday, both days and evenings details on which to be confirmed on appointment.
You will be a caring and reliable individual with strong communication skills, a professional approach and a passion for supporting others. Comfortable working both independently and within a team, you'll be flexible, adaptable and confident dealing with a range of situations. Basic IT, literacy and numeracy skills are essential, as is the ability to provide practical support to residents and undertake moving and handling tasks where required.
You will need to demonstrate that you have the Right to Work in the UK. No post will be offered without it.
