Full Job Description

Supply chain Operative At JR site working Monday to Friday 5 day service, Working Closely with Clinical staff and other member of the supply chain team. To provide an efficient and responsive Receipt, Distribution and Inventory/Materials Management service to wards and departments across the clinical site. The post holder will ensure deliveries are processed accurately, stock is replenished in line with agreed levels, and materials are available to support safe and effective patient care. The role forms part of a small, agile Supply Chain team and requires a flexible and responsible approach to work., The Operational team based at the John Radcliffe Hospital requires a Supply chain operative.

  • Receive, unload and check deliveries in accordance with Trust procedures.
  • Accurately record goods received using manual and electronic systems.
  • Investigate and report delivery discrepancies to the Supply Chain Supervisor.
  • Distribute goods to wards and departments in a timely manner, including same-day delivery where required.
  • 2. Stock Replenishment & Ward Support To work with Ward Sisters / Department Managers to agree on product ranges and stock levels held.
  • Ensure storage areas are maintained in line with good stock control principles.
  • Replenish ward and department stock using barcode scanning linked to the Inventory Management (IM) System or NHS Supply Chain systems
  • Expedite urgent stock requirements when required.
  • Support the Supply Chain Supervisor in maintaining agreed service levels.
  • Actively seek to identify and report any cost savings and benefits by alternative means of purchase. Look for opportunities to add non-stock items to Inventory/Materials Management either through Stock or Non-Stock supply chains.
  • Assist in extending and embedding Inventory/Materials Management processes across departments.
  • Participate in stock reviews and user meetings where required.
  • Support other Inventory/Materials Management areas to provide cover for the service for colleagues working in other areas as required., + Conduct scheduled cycle counts across all clinical and non-clinical departments in line with agreed counting programmes.
  • + Investigate and reconcile stock discrepancies in collaboration with ward/department staff and Materials Management. + Ensure stock levels are accurate within inventory management systems. + Escalate significant variances or stock risks to the Supply Chain Supervisor. + Assist in identifying obsolete, slow-moving, or excess stock. 2. Receipt & Distribution + Receive, unload and check deliveries in accordance with Trust procedures. + Accurately record goods received using manual and electronic systems. + Investigate and report delivery discrepancies to the Supply Chain Supervisor. + Distribute goods to wards and departments in a timely manner, including same-day delivery where required. + Prepare and distribute goods to off-site locations and approved third parties where necessary. + Maintain the Receipt & Distribution area as safe, clean and organised. + Preparing and delivering goods to Wards and Departments and arranging distribution to other offsite Health bodies as well as on-site third parties, e.g. University Departments. 2. Stock Replenishment & Ward Support + To work with Ward Sisters / Department Managers to agree on product ranges and stock levels held. + Ensure storage areas are maintained in line with good stock control principles. + Replenish ward and department stock using barcode scanning linked to the Inventory Management (IM) System or NHS Supply Chain systems + Expedite urgent stock requirements when required. + A responsive, professional and caring attitude to customers is essential + Lead and facilitate regular Stock Reviews with Departments 3. Service Support & Continuous Improvement + Support the Supply Chain Supervisor in maintaining agreed service levels. + Actively seek to identify and report any cost savings and benefits by alternative means of purchase. Look for opportunities to add non-stock items to Inventory/Materials Management either through Stock or Non-Stock supply chains. + Assist in extending and embedding Inventory/Materials Management processes across departments. + Participate in stock reviews and user meetings where required. + Support other Inventory/Materials Management areas to provide cover for the service for colleagues working in other areas as required. + This role involves regular manual handling, including lifting and moving parcels, roll cages and stock items. + The post holder will move between wards and departments as part of their daily duties. + May be required to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet service needs. + Must follow Trust policies, including equality and diversity, at all times., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
