Full Job Description

As a Supervising Social Worker, you will play a key role in assessing, supporting, and developing kinship carers, ensuring children experience positive outcomes and can remain connected to their family networks whenever it is safe and appropriate to do so., You will:

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of prospective kinship carers, including Special Guardianship and Connected Persons assessments.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, support, and guidance to approved kinship carers.
  • Develop and deliver support plans tailored to meet the needs of children and families.
  • Work collaboratively with children, families, social workers, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies.
  • Prepare high-quality reports for Court Proceedings, Fostering Panels, and decision makers.
  • Contribute to the development of kinship services and promote best practice.
  • Advocate for children and carers to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met.
  • Support carers to understand and manage the impact of trauma, loss, and attachment difficulties.

This is an exciting opportunity to support kinship carers who provide safe, nurturing, and stable homes for children who are unable to live with their birth parents., We are looking for a qualified and committed social worker who:
  • Holds a recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Is registered with Social Work England.
  • Has experience working with children and families within statutory services.
  • Has a sound understanding of kinship care, Special Guardianship, fostering regulations, and safeguarding legislation.
  • Demonstrates strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Has the ability to build effective and supportive relationships with carers and partner agencies.
  • Is organised, resilient, and able to manage a varied caseload.
