Full Job Description
An exciting oportunity to join the team in Midlands OpCourage supporting veterans, reservists and their families as the lead sunstance misuse nurse within our service.
This is a Midlands wide post for an RMN/RNMH or RGN/AHP (with appropriate mental health experience) who has experience working in substance misuse services. Providing clinical leadership to the SMU nurses across the partnership, the post holder will take the lead in further developing the substance misuse offer, working alongside mainstream NHS services and other agencies.
The post holder will be part of a multi disciplinary team leading clinical decision-making, providing clinical assessment and treatment with a clinical caseload, applying evidence-based practice, supporting discharge and measured outcomes.
The post holder will support the development of training for staff within the wider OpCourage pathways and work closely with the clinical and operational leads across the partnership.
Main duties of the job
Support the SMU Nurses in their roles and the delivery of interventions
Support the SMU Nurses in supervision of the Support workers
Develop SMU provision in line with service specifications to meet the needs of the serviceusers within Midlands OpCourage pathways
To provide clinical supervision to the SMU nurses
Develop and support delivery of suitable training packages for all staff within Midlands OpCourage pathways to increase awareness and knowledge of SMU presentations in relation to mental health
Lead clinical audits and quality improvement
Work with external agencies to develop agreed pathways and joint care provision
Manage a small caseload of complex cases as required

Op COURAGE provides specialist care and support for people who have served in the Armed Forces and are experiencing mental ill health.
Op COURAGE is provided by trained professionals who are from, or have experience of working with, the Armed Forces community.
Midlands OpCourage is a partnership made up of various NHS and charity partners with LPFT as the lead provider.
The service provides a single point of access for referrals, hubs providing assessment and treatment, and specific therapies through our pathways. We also offer support for families through our pathways and in conjunction with one of our partners.
