Job Description
Part of the VolkerWessels UK Group, VolkerStevin is an industry-leading civil engineering business, providing complex and innovative engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors including maritime, flood risk management, defence, energy, water and regeneration. Collaborating with, and drawing on the specialist skills of the group's business units we deliver a truly integrated, multidisciplinary service.
As our portfolio continues to grow, we're looking for a motivated Sub Agent to join our team and help deliver a major National Grid substation project. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of key work packages on high-profile schemes that will help power communities and businesses for generations to come.
Working alongside the Project Manager and Site Agent, you'll lead engineers, supervisors and supply chain partners to safely deliver complex civil, structural and electrical interface works to programme, budget and quality expectations.
About you
We're looking for a proactive and collaborative construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced project environment and enjoys leading teams to achieve exceptional results. You’ll bring:
- A Degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Sub Agent, Senior Engineer or similar role within major infrastructure, utilities or energy projects.
- SMSTS certification.
- Relevant CSCS or EUSR CSCS management card.
- Temporary Works Supervisor competence.
- First Aid at Work qualification (or equivalent).
- Strong experience managing programmes, RAMS, ITPs, subcontractors and project change.
It would be advantageous if you also have:
- Experience working on National Grid or high-voltage substation projects.
- Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and compensation event processes.
- Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
- Experience managing lifting operations.
- Experience delivering projects within live operational environments and planned outage programmes.
