As recognised by inspectors during the June 2025 Ofsted/CQC inspection, "in recent years, the experiences of children and young people with SEND in Birmingham have started to improve." We are now building on that progress through the Birmingham SEND Reforms - working as one Local Area Partnership across Education, Health and Social Care, alongside parent carers, children and young people. Do you have recent and successful experience of teaching children and young people who are deaf or hearing impaired? Are you passionate about promoting inclusion and improving outcomes for children and young people with sensory needs? We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed, and highly motivated Teacher of the Deaf to join our Hearing Support Team. You will provide specialist assessment, teaching, and support for children and young people (CYP) with hearing impairment from birth to 25 years, working in partnership with families, schools, and other professionals to raise achievement and promote inclusion. This position will involve working in family homes, nurseries, mainstream schools, special schools and FE colleges and travelling across the city of Birmingham. Candidates for this post must hold qualified teacher status. We will consider applications from Qualified Teachers of the Deaf who hold the mandatory qualification, as well as from those who are currently undertaking the mandatory qualification, or those qualified teachers who have experience teaching deaf CYP who would be willing to undertake the mandatory training.
